A world-renowned hairdresser who has worked with Madonna, Kate Moss and Cindy Crawford has revealed the top mistakes everyone makes with their hair – and how to avoid them.
Max Pinnell, from Sydney, has spent the last three decades adorning the crowns of Hollywood’s greatest celebrities.
He told FEMAIL that one of the biggest mistakes most people make is inadvertently mixing their skincare routine with their hairline.

‘We’re a nation of beauty-holics, but we need to separate our skincare routine from our hairline – it’s killing our hair,’ he said.
‘If you use active face creams such as retinol, make sure to sleep with your hair off your face as the ingredients in your skin products will cause breakage for the hair around your face.’
He also revealed that women should not be afraid of styling products – as the real damage stems from failing to wash their hair properly.
‘If the styling products are good, your hair should be super light and bouncy and do what you want it to do,’ he said. ‘But you have to use a decent shampoo, conditioner, and serum to nourish and put some life back into your hair. It is so important!’
