Billie Eilish Shares Her Post-Show Beauty Routine, From Makeup Removal to Overnight Hair Treatments

“I have to do a skin-care routine every single night,” says Billie Eilish. Midway through a world tour that sees her singing to packed stadiums, Eilish sticks to a routine both for the sake of her skin and her emotional self. “For me, I find a lot of peace in it and it brings me back down to myself; I feel like a person when I do it,” she says.

Fresh off the stage, she picks Josie Maran wipes as her makeup remover of choice, pulling her hair out of her face with a headband and hair tie. (Fun fact: the singer-songwriter does not have glam on tour, instead doing her hair and makeup herself.) “Taking care of your skin is so, so important just as a person,” she notes. “There is no gender to it.”

It was her brother, Finneas, who introduced her to skin care at age 12, though it wasn’t until she began seeing celebrity esthetician Biba de Sousa that the idea really left a lasting impression—along with avoiding gluten and dairy in her diet. “My skin had a complete transformation when I started using [her] products,” she says. “I am so grateful for her.” Save for the cleansing wipes, her entire regimen consists of products from de Sousa’s collection: a mask, cleansing gel, two toners, and two moisturizers—the second of which, specifically the Cream Barrier, Eilish notes has “changed [her] life.”

With skin care complete, she brushes out any tangles in her hair before applying the Olaplex No.6 Bond Smoother to her tresses. The 20-year-old has become known for her memorable hair colors, though she admits she feels most like herself with black hair, which she’s sporting today. Then it’s time for finishing touches: Eilish dots some of Aquaphor’s healing ointment (a product she has with her at all times) on her lips, then turns to her fingertips: “I’m really, really big on healthy nails,” she notes, relying on two nail and cuticle strengtheners by celebrity nail artist Tammy Taylor. Eilish is partial to Taylor’s Thymolize Solution: “I will use this stuff if my nails are feeling weak, like if I just had gels taken off or something,” she explains.

While many might assume her recently launched Eilish Eau de Parfum is her signature scent, she admits it’s really a Laura Mercier body cream she lathers on her entire body nightly. “I feel like everybody that knows me, when they smell this, it just smells like me,” she says—though she will spritz herself with her eponymous fragrance before a relaxing evening ahead.
